Communities and street population
The communities agenda forms one of the four strands of the updated National Drug Strategy, 2002. The aims consist of;
- Developing and supporting communities to raise levels awareness and understanding of drugs and the specific harm they can cause.
- To support, engage and involve communities in addressing substance misuse in their localities.
They will be met by supporting community development, community engagement / action and capacity-building through targeted resources.
Examples of specific issues may include:
- Sex and drug detritus in your neighbourhood
- Drug using or drug dealing in a particular area.
