Equalities and Diversity

Lambeth DAT is committed to ensuring its services are accessible to and suitable for all service users. It also recognises that wherever possible services need to be delivered in a culturally appropriate fashion.

It actively pursues the eradication of unlawful discrimination and the promotion of equal opportunities with respect to ethnicity, age, culture, gender, sexuality, mental ability, mental health, geographical location, offending background, physical ability, political beliefs, religion, health or status or any other specific factors which result in discrimination.

Equalities and Diversity Sub-Group

The Equalities and Diversity Subgroup brings together service providers and DAT staff to address provision of equal access to services in Lambeth by all of Lambeth’s diverse population. It enables both providers and commissioners to explore blockages / good practice within the treatment system. It also allows information dissemination amongst providers and is a forum where presentations of equalities and diversity issues are invited.

Equalities and Diversity Drug and Alcohol Team

The Equalities and Diversity Drug and Alcohol Team (EDDAT) was set up in 2005 to support service providers and community groups around equalities and diversity in relation to substance misuse. The team works with service providers to ensure that their services meet the needs of service users from a diverse range of backgrounds. It also works in conjunction with the DAT’s Community Engagement officer to support community groups and organisations with drug and alcohol issues. EDDAT seeks to achieve these by:

  • Providing support and training to providers to enable them to carry out Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs).
  • Providing community groups in the borough with access to suitable training in drug and alcohol issues as well as signposting and referral.
