Lambeth Drug and Alcohol Team (DAT)
Lambeth Drug and Alcohol Team (DAT) is a partnership of all the organisations involved in reducing the harm caused by drugs to both individuals and communities in Lambeth. These include Lambeth Council, the police, the NHS, the probation service and the voluntary and community sectors.
Together, these organisations agree a series of plans that lay out how we will implement both the National Drug Strategy and the Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy in order to meet local needs. These plans look at:
- How we can make high quality, effective treatment available to all who need it.
- How we work with young people to prevent them from becoming the problem drug/alcohol users of tomorrow.
- How we reduce the availability of drugs on our streets.
- How we ensure that legislation about the availability of alcohol is properly observed.
- How we work to reduce the negative impact of drugs and alcohol on our communities.
The DAT bases its approach on evidence of what works and gathers information about the effectiveness of what we do and what we spend locally, so we can make sure that we are providing the best value for money in all areas of our work.
For more information contact Megan Jones, Lambeth DAT Co-ordinator: mjones2@lambeth.gov.uk or tel: 020 7926 2684.
The communities agenda forms one of the four strands of the updated National Drug Strategy, 2002.
Lambeth DAT is committed to ensuring its services are accessible to and suitable for all service users. It also recognises that wherever possible services need to be delivered in a culturally appropriate fashion.
Welcome to this year's Lambeth Drug and Alcohol Training programme. This programme is here to enhance your skills and knowledge about working with people affected by drug and alcohol use. For those of you who work in drug and alcohol services or are a service user, this training programme may also be an opportunity to share your expertise with colleagues and partners and improve our treatment options.
This toolkit has been developed in conjunction with the Lambeth Drug and Alcohol Team (LDAT) and key practitioners who work with young people affected by substance use.
