There are many different ways that you can get involved. You could join a local group like the the West Norwood feast, take part in or run a consultation, volunteer to become a green champion or a school governor, or set up a neighbourhood watch scheme in your area.

Be part of the cooperative council

We are giving you more involvement and control of the services you use and the places where you live. Find out how you can take part, from becoming a member of the Lambeth Play Association to volunteering your time to a Time Bank.

Adopt a child

Adoption is a chance to give a child a brighter future. Our Fostering and Adoption team will give you advice and assistance when you need it. Find out more about the adoption process and if adoption is right for you.

Influence decisions in local democracy

Find out how you can raise issues and get involved in local decision making, from registering to vote, responding to a consultation, asking a public question, attending a public meeting to becoming a youth mayor or a councillor.

Improve your council housing

If you want to help to improve housing in your area you could join a residents' or tenants' association or become a recycling champion.

Improve your environment

Become a Green Community Champion to help and inspire your neighbours about the environment or set up a Community Freshview to work with your community to make your area cleaner and greener.

Play a part in creating a safer neighbourhood 

You could join your local Safer Neighbourhood panel, report anti-social behaviour or help to decide how criminals should pay back to the community.
