Area housing forums
Area housing forums meet at least four times a year with additional meetings on an ad hoc basis. These meetings are serviced by the area housing manager.
The area housing forums hold the local area housing manager to account for the standard of service provided to customers in the area.
Significant powers are delegated to area housing managers in consultation with their forums. The result is that forums are very influential on a wide range of matters including:
- The determination of the major repairs programme
- The external decorations programme
- The design of local services and staff structures
- Contract management (e.g. repairs, cleaning, grounds maintenance)
- Local budgets
- Local newsletters
- Performance management
Representatives from area housing forums sit on appointment panels for senior area staff and contractors.
The area housing forums are consulted by the council on changes in rent levels and housing management policies in accordance with its obligations to consult under the Housing Act.
