Norwood town centre
Norwood is the smallest and least populated town centre in Lambeth. Its is distributed amongst the wards of Gipsy Hill, Knights Hill and Thurlow Park.
The town centre is located around the A215 Norwood Road/ Knights Hill and B232 Elder Road. It is bounded in the North by the southern edge of Brockwell Park, in the East by A2199 Croxted Road and in the South, A214 Crown Lane/ Central Hill. In the west, it merges with Streatham.
The population of Norwood rose from 35,247 in 1991 to 38,246 in 2001, an increase of 8.5%. This is 14.4% of the borough population. Norwood has an area of 454.9 hectares (16.7% of the borough). For the local elections in May 2002, there were 27,644 electors.
Norwood had the smallest decrease in Council renting between 1991 and 2001. All wards in Norwood have a high percentage of houses compared to flats.
Norwood has seen the largest fall in the number of economically inactive people, with a ward average decrease of 7%.
