Pets and nuisance
Under the terms of your tenancy conditions, you can only keep pets in your home if you get our written permission and so long as they do not cause a nuisance or danger to anyone else.
Pets can cause a nuisance by fouling balconies, stairs, courtyards or grass. This is unpleasant and a health risk. Pets can also carry diseases and parasites which they can pass to people.
Dogs
Do not let any dog you have foul common areas outside your home. Children are particularly at risk because they often play in areas that dogs use. If you have a dog keep it away from children's play areas.
Dogs barking all the time can cause noise nuisance, particularly at night. Report noisy dogs to the Noise Control Service.
Dog wardens
Dog wardens patrol Lambeth to pick up stray dogs. Your dog can still be taken to the dogs' home even if your dog is wearing a collar and identity disc but is running loose. The local police keep a record of all stray dogs that are reported before they go to the dogs' home.
The importance of keeping your dog under control
Keep your dog under control at all times. When it is on an estate keep it on a lead. If you have a large or powerful dog be especially careful, particularly near children. If your dog often causes a nuisance to other tenants we may end your tenancy if you don't get rid of the dog. You must now register some breeds of dogs with the police and muzzle the dog in public places.
Dog fouling
You must not allow your dog to foul on our land, we may fine you under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996.
