It's Christmas all over Lambeth

Lambeth residents will be celebrating Christmas in style at events across the borough organised by Lambeth Council.

Traditional Christmas trees will brighten up the length and breadth of the borough, and Christmas lights are being switched on in all Lambeth's town centres.

In Brixton the Christmas lights were switched on on 1 December, with carols, festive fare and much more. On the same evening in Clapham, comedienne and TV presenter Gina Yashere will flick the switch to the lights and children from the Notre Dame estate will lead a procession of Christmas lanterns.

Norwood town centre's Christmas lights were switched on by chart topping Faithless singer, Maxi Jazz. Face painting, story telling, mince pies, mulled wine and Christmas Carols led by ABC Gospel Singers and Norwood Community Choir were among the other attractions at the event on 30 November.

Star of stage and screen June Whitfield switched on Streatham's Christmas lights at a fantastic event, while the planned switch on of lights and Christmas trees will bring festive cheer to the thousands of residents and millions of visitors to Oval and Waterloo in the north of the borough.
