Red ribbon for World Aids Day - Saturday 1 December 2007

World AIDS Day is on Saturday 1 December, raising awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education to stop the spread of HIV.

In the UK alone, around 73,000 people are living with HIV and 8,925 more new cases were diagnosed last year.

The rate of new cases in the UK is one of the highest in the European Union, with Lambeth having the highest rate of infection in the UK.

Most of the main council building receptions, including the Town Hall, will have red ribbons and publications available on Friday 30 November, so please show your support by wearing a red ribbon.
