New Year's Eve fireworks
Once again millions of people around the world will have their eyes on Lambeth watching London's central firework display, around the South Bank and the London Eye, courtesy of the Mayor of London.
This year over 350,000 people are expected to celebrate the start of 2008 in Central London.
To manage the large numbers of people expected the following road closures and waiting restrictions will apply.
Road Closures
The following roads will be closed from 6pm, Monday 31 December to 6am, Tuesday 1 January 2008
- Westminster Bridge (as much as lies in Lambeth)
- Westminster Bridge Road between Westminster Bridge and Addington Street
- Addington Street
- Belvedere Road
- York Road
- Chicheley Street
- Waterloo Bridge (as much as lies in Lambeth)
- Waterloo Road (between Waterloo Bridge and Tenison Way)
- Concert Hall Approach
- Tenison Way
Waiting Restrictions
There will be waiting restrictions on the following roads from 1pm, on Monday 31 December to 6am on Tuesday 1 January 2008
- Westminster Bridge
- Waterloo Bridge
Parking Bay Suspensions
Parking will be suspended in the following parking bays from 8.30am, Monday the 31 December to 8.30am on Tuesday 1 January 2008.
- Belvedere Rd
- Chicheley Street
Advanced warning notices will be displayed on time plate posts from 21 December 2007. Vehicles found to be parked in these suspended bays between the times indicated will be removed to Lambeth's car pound.
Coaches for the London Eye will be allowed to pick up and set down passengers as usual until roads are closed by the police at 6pm, Monday 31 December 2007.
