Interim Chief Executive
Lambeth Council can announce that Andrew Webster will continue in the role of Interim Chief Executive until early next year.
Earlier this month the Council announced that Mr Derrick Anderson, CBE, had been selected as the new Chief Executive of Lambeth. Mr Anderson - who has nearly 20 years management experience in Local Government - is expected to take up the post in the New Year.
Until then Andrew Webster, Director of Adult and Community Services at Lambeth Council, will continue in post.
Mr Webster took up the role of interim CE in September 2005 following the departure of former Chief Executive Faith Boardman for personal reasons.
Mr Webster said: “I am delighted and honoured to be asked to continue as interim Chief Executive. Lambeth has made huge progress in recent years and I am determined to keep up the pace until Derrick Anderson takes up the reins”.
Mr Webster will revert to his role of Director of Adult and Community Services when Mr Anderson takes up his post.
Lambeth Council Leader Peter Truesdale said: “We are very pleased to have such an energetic and creative public servant to take up the post of Lambeth’s Interim chief Executive”.
Derrick Anderson is currently employed as Chief Executive of Wolverhampton City Council. He was awarded a CBE for his services to local Government in January 2003.
Mr Anderson's appointment was ratified by all three political parties at a full council meeting last Wednesday.
