Packed summer of fun at Clapham Common Bandstand
A packed programme of bands, theatre, performance and much more takes place throughout the summer at Clapham Common Bandstand, organised by Lambeth Council's events team.
This weekend sees the inaugural SUBWAY® Picnic Rocks 2008, featuring Amy McDonald, The Holloways and The Metros, with all money raised going to the charity Action Against Hunger. See www.picnicrocks.co.uk for more.
Then later this month 'Big Dance' with the London School of Samba will see a performance which displays the awe inspiring, colourful and foot stomping Brazilian rhythmic percussion.
Highlights in August include free performances by Lambeth Orchestra, the South London Jazz Orchestra and Quantum Theatre presenting 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
The programme has been put together by Lambeth Council and has been designed to offer a variety of performances to suit all ages.
Councillor Mark Bennett, Cabinet Member for Culture on Lambeth Council, said: "Clapham Common Bandstand is a great place to come and relax with a picnic this summer and take in some fantastic performances. There is something for everyone and I'm delighted the council has been able to support such a varied programme."
