Play your part in creating a safer Lambeth
Making Lambeth a safer place to live, work and visit is the role of the Safer Lambeth Partnership, which is made up of agencies including the council, the police, the fire service, NHS Lambeth and London Probation Service.
We want to tell you about the work we are doing to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Lambeth, and how as a member of the public you can play your part in making changes to your neighbourhood.
Join your local Safer Neighbourhood panel
Every ward in Lambeth has a dedicated police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) working in partnership with Lambeth's community safety team to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
Each team holds regular public meetings where you are able to find out how the police and the council are working to address crime and receive crime statistics for your area.
By joining the panel you can decide what crime and anti-social behaviour priorities the Safer Neighbourhood team and council should tackle in your ward. For more information on how to work with your local Safer Neighbourhood team visit the Lambeth Police website.
Report anti-social behaviour
Anti-social behaviour is any intimidating or threatening activity which scares you or damages your quality of life. You do not have to put up with it and have a right to live in a safe and secure community.
There is now a dedicated Lambeth reporting line to report all types of anti-social behaviour, from dangerous dogs and rowdy behaviour, to drug dealing.
You can report anonymously and all calls will be treated in strict confidence.
Please call the anti-social behaviour reporting line on 020 7926 4000.
Victim's champion
Lambeth now has a Victim's Champion who will help ensure victims and witnesses of anti-social behaviour get any additional support they feel that they need.
For more information call 020 7820 0007 or 020 7820 0008.
Help decide how criminals should pay back to the community
You can nominate your local area if you feel it would benefit from support from Community Payback.
Community Payback is a scheme where low-risk offenders serving community-based sentences are ordered to "pay back" to the community as part of their punishment for offending. We work in partnership with London Probation and the Metropolitan Police Service.
Community Payback offenders must wear high-visibility orange jackets labelled "Community Payback". This is to make sure that local residents know that offenders are in the area to give back to the community. Offenders will always be supervised by probation when carrying out work.
They can carry out work from clearing rubbish, planting and landscaping to painting community centres.
You can nominate for your local area online and also via the Community Payback helpline on 07894 176 943 or by emailing Payback@london.probation.gsi.gov.uk.
Neighbourhood Watch is about being part of a community team however large or small, whose members work to protect each other from crime and anti-social behaviour.
