Burglary, robbery and theft
Robbery, thefts and burglaries come under the heading of 'acquisitive crimes' which mean crimes where items are stolen or acquired fraudulently.
The Safer Lambeth Partnership is working to create a safer environment for us to live, work and play. Discovering you have been a victim of a burglary can be a very distressing experience and in some cases could even have been prevented. One in three burglaries could have been avoided if home owners had taken a few quick and simple precautions.
Burglary can be prevented
- Are windows and doors closed and fitted with security locks?
- Can your keys be seen or reached from a door or window?
- Can your shed or garage be opened easily?
- Are your side gates and fences secure?
- Have you checked the identity of the stranger at the door?
- Shared entrance, does the entrance door close and lock?
- Going away - have you cancelled your milk and paper delivery?
- Are you a member of Neighbourhood Watch?
