Council tax refunds

You can apply for a refund if you have paid too much council tax.

You may have paid too much council tax if you moved house or if your circumstances have changed. If this happens, we will let you know and send you a refund application form which you will need to fill in and return to us. Should this ever happen, we will let you know and send you a refund application form which you will need to fill in and return to us.

If you have paid your council tax using a debit or credit card you will need to provide a copy of the credit or debit card statement(s) showing the payments made towards council tax, before the refund can be processed.

If all the information you provide is complete and correct, we will process the refund and send it to you within 20 working days. Please note that we prefer to make all refunds through electronic payment and if you have paid your council tax in this way, you will receive your refund this way.
