Moving into, within or out of Lambeth

You'll need to let us know straight away so we can send you your correct bill.

When you contact us, we'll need to know:

- the date you bought your property, or the date your tenancy starts
- the date you are moving in (if different)
- the full names of anyone living in the property aged 18 or over
- if you are the owner, we'll ask for the name and address of your solicitors, and the forwarding address of the previous owner
- if you are the tenant, we also need to know the name and address of your landlord.
You should receive your Council Tax bill within 7-10 days of your account being set up.
If you are moving within Lambeth

For your old address in Lambeth:
- your account number (shown on your bill);
- the date you have sold your old property, or the date your tenancy ends;
- the date you are moving out (if different);
- if you were the owner, we'll ask for the name and address of your solicitors, and the name of the new owner of the old property; and
- if you were the tenant, we need to know the name and address of your landlord of the old property.
And for your new address in Lambeth:
- the full postal address, including postcode, of your new property;
- the date you bought your property, or the date your tenancy starts;
- the date you are moving in (if different);
- the full names of anyone living in the property aged 18 or over;
- if you are the owner of the new address, we'll ask for the name and address of your solicitors, and the forwarding address of the previous owner; and

We should be able to transfer your account details to the new address, as well as move any excess payments, and transfer your direct debit to the new property. You should receive your adjusted Council Tax bill within 7-10 days of your account being updated.

If you are moving out of Lambeth
You'll need to let us know straight away so we can send you your final bill.
You can let us know you're moving out of Lambeth by:

- writing to Lambeth Council Tax, PO Box 753, Bromley BR2 9XY
If you phone us on 0845 300 0328, we should be able to close your account there and then, give you your final balance, and take payment of any amount owed. The how to pay page lists the other methods of payment available.

- the date you have sold your property, or the date your tenancy ends;
- the date you are moving out, if different;
- your forwarding address;
- if you are the owner, we'll ask for the name and address of your solicitors, and the name of the new owner; and
- if you are the tenant, we need to know the name and address of your landlord.
You should receive your final Council Tax bill within 7-10 days of your account being closed. It will tell you how much you owe us if there is balance due, or if you have overpaid, how much your credit is. We will refund any credit directly into your bank account - full details will be given on your final bill.
