Lambeth First Enterprise Board

The Lambeth First Enterprise Board, appointed through an open recruitment process, is a business-led board that champions Lambeth's vision for enterprise. It acts as the key mechanism for partnership between the public and private (including social enterprise) sectors in the borough.

A new board has been appointed for 2009-2011 following a recent recruitment process amongst business owners in the borough. The board's new members come from a variety of local businesses including restaurants, an IT consultancy, an events and marketing agency and creative/design consultancies.

A key priority for the new board will be to respond to changing economic conditions, shielding businesses from the effects of the global economic down turn and when the economy recovers, to take advantage of new and emerging opportunities.

Board members intend to take forward a number of projects to boost existing businesses and encourage opportunities for new entrepreneurs. Key schemes the board have committed to over the coming months include:

  • The creation of a loan fund and related business planning support
  • A temporary letting scheme for vacant commercial properties
  • Work with Lambeth’s younger citizens to promote and foster entrepreneurship
  • A Lambeth business fair
