Direct Payments

Direct Payments give disabled people the freedom to choose and manage their own services and are a way of helping people to have more choice and control about their social care services.

The course covers legislation and policy guidance, eligibility requirements and the use of Direct Payments. Participants will learn the steps for arranging, monitoring reviewing or ending Direct Payments and will be competent in Direct Payments Finance Monitoring and Audit requirements.

Recommended for

Mandatory course for Health and Social Care staff. This course is tailored towards Lambeth Staff and Integrated Mental Health Teams, and covers internal processes. As such it is not suitable for external care providers.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course participants will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of the scope of the Act and its application
  • Feel confident to promote Direct Payments services to Service Users.
