Document summary
The Lambeth Compact is an agreement between the voluntary and community sector and the statutory sector in Lambeth.
How long has Lambeth Compact been around and who has signed up to it in Lambeth?
LB Lambeth and the Lambeth Primary Care Trust, along with the voluntary and community sector (VCS), represented by the VCS umbrella body, Lambeth Voluntary Action Council (LVAC), signed up to the principles of Compact in 2001. Other members of our Local Strategic Partnership have expressed an interest in signing up.
Why should I apply Compact principles to my work?
You may already be aware of the increasing requirement to integrate the principles of our local Compact into all aspects of the council's business - it is now expected that a Compact way of working is the normal way of doing business.
In fact Compact compliance is a firm requirement from central government and will influence how the council is judged to perform against a number of targets attached to Local Area Agreements, Comprehensive Performance Assessments (soon to be Comprehensive Area Assessments), etc.
