Commercial property

In this section you can find links to websites to help you find commercial property and land available for development in the borough.

Commercial property - Lambeth and South London

The South London Business website, funded in partnership with South London Business (SLB) and other south London boroughs, provides details of available commercial property in the borough.

The site enables multiple searches to be carried out across several boroughs and also within each town centre area.

Users can search by geographical area, by property type (office, retail, industrial) and by floor area.

Available market stalls in the borough

Lambeth's markets are well established and popular with the community and tourists alike. We offer temporary and permanent pitches at various competitive fees. This is an option for low risk start up space for new businesses looking to test the market. Find out more about market pitches in Lambeth.

Land available for development

If you wish to develop land in Lambeth you must refer to the Lambeth Local Development Framework Core Strategy (2011) and the Unitary Development Plan Saved Policies.

The Core Strategy and the remaining UDP Saved Policies sets out the vision, strategic objectives, spatial strategy and policies for the spatial development of the borough over the next 15 years. They provide a basis for the council to make decisions on planning applications. Anyone wishing to develop land is advised to refer to the Core Strategy and the remaining Unitary Development Plan Saved Policies.

Other sites available for development

You can find details of major development opportunities (MDOs) in the Unitary Development Plan Saved Policies.

You can view the MDO sites on our Online Proposals Map.

The UDP Saved Policies explains the types of development that may be suitable on each MDO, and the planning policies that will be used to guide this development.

You will also need to consult the relevant policies in the Core Strategy, and you may need to study the online LDF Core Strategy Proposals Map, which is also available in paper form in the reception area of the Lambeth Planning office, Phoenix House, 10 Wandsworth Road, London SW8 2LL.

If you have already identified a site that you would like to develop, you will need to identify the site on the proposals map to find out what the relevant planning policies are for the site.

You should do this at the beginning of the proposal process as not all types of development are appropriate in all locations.

Empty shops and other commercial premises

As a landlord, you have an opportunity to help reverse decline in town centres by allowing temporary use of your vacant commercial premises. Letting out the property can create commercial opportunities and therefore protect landlords' long term investments.
