Naming ceremonies
A civil naming ceremony is a non-religious way of celebrating the birth of your child and welcoming the new arrival into the family and the wider community.
It's also an opportunity to declare, before family and friends, your promise to be as good a parent as you can, and for adult friends or relatives to confirm their special relationship with your child.
The ceremony is also an ideal way of creating family bonding for adoptive or step-children, and of welcoming them into their new extended family.
Ceremony
The specially written, dignified ceremony can be tailored to suit the individual need of the family.
There is a wide choice of poems and readings available to enhance the ceremony and a souvenir record of the ceremony will be signed and presented during the event.
Venues
Naming ceremonies can take place at Lambeth Register Office or any of our approved venues.
Legal status
Neither the naming ceremony, nor any documents issued have any legal status.
