Document summary
On 14 February Safer Lambeth formally launched its draft Strategic Action Plan at a major gang summit hosted by Lambeth First. The summit discussed ways to tackle the problem of the rising involvement of young people in violent crime in the borough.
The draft Strategic Action Plan, which you can download using the link at the top of this page, represents Safer Lambeth's first response to the report of the Executive Commission on Children, Young People and Violent Crime. The Commission met last year, following several serious incidents involving young people and gang related violent crime, and made far reaching recommendations for action to address the problem.
A consultation phase was conducted from March 14 to April 18, 2008 with the community and key stakeholders engaged. The Strategic Action Plan is currently being finalised and will be submitted to Cabinet in July. The final version of the strategic action plan is due to be completed in August, 2008.
