Document summary
The Disability Equality Policy is based on the principle that achieving best practice in disability equality is not only a statutory duty but also fundamental to improving quality of life for disabled residents, council employees and visitors to Lambeth.
It focuses on narrowing the gap between disabled and non-disabled people, as it can be demonstrated that disabled people and their carers have different, less positive, experiences of council services in terms of access, take-up, satisfaction and outcomes, and access to council employment.
