During Refugee Week hundreds of events exploring refugee experiences take place across the UK. These range from small community and school activities to art exhibitions, political debates, film screenings, conferences, big music festivals and sports events.
18-24 Carers Week
2011 is the eleventh year that Carers Week has been held in its current format. Organised by a consortium of seven national charities, over 100,000 carers take part in the thousands of activities held in every part of the UK.
18-24 Child Safety Week
Child Safety Week is the Child Accident Prevention Trust's flagship community education campaign. It aims to raise awareness of the number of accidents that seriously injure or kill children and how to prevent them.
20 World Refugee Day
The United Nations General Assembly decided that 20 June 2001 should be celebrated as World Refugee Day. This marked the 50th anniversary of the convention relating to the status of refugees. Each year activities take place raising awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world.
20-24 Learning Disability Week
A national awareness week run by Mencap every year. It's a great chance to get involved and raise awareness about the issues that are important to people with a learning disability, their families and carers.
23 – 8 World Pride (London)
London beat stiff competition to win the title of host city for WorldPride 2012. World Pride promotes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues on an international level through parades, festivals and other cultural activities.
