Investors in People
Investors in People (IiP) is a national quality standard which sets best practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people. Lambeth achieved corporate IiP recognition in December 2004. Few other councils have achieved corporate recognition.
The chief external assessor states in her report:
"The simple statement that the council has achieved the IiP standard does not do justice to the scale of the borough’s achievement. Using Investors in People as a framework to drive and support culture change, top management have shown sustained commitment to the principles of business-focused people development, effective internal communication and rigorous performance management. The pay-off is now apparent, with improving performance, increasing morale and a transformation in culture and climate."
Since 2004, the IiP standard has been revised and is now even more challenging. The council is working hard to prepare for assessment against the new standard in late 2007.
