Lambeth Community Fund

The Lambeth Community Fund (LCF) is an exciting new charitable venture set up to support the borough today and long into the future responding to the changing needs of local people. The initial collaboration to kick-start the fund took place between Lambeth Council, the London Community Foundation and the Charity Commission.

The aim of the fund is to create a sustainable resource for voluntary and community groups through partnership across the public, private and voluntary sectors for the benefit of the local community.

Managed by the Capital Community Foundation, LCF is an endowment fund, where the interest accrued is allocated in grants and not the capital. The number of new donors joining the fund is increasing, so over time the LCF will continue to grow.

The criteria for applying to the fund is focused on tackling worklessness, identified as a priority theme in Lambeth’s Sustainable Community Strategy as it recognises worklessness is a key factor in poverty and exclusion in the borough, and also has been linked with less cohesion communities. The LCF has a number of grant streams that cover a range of priorities including health, social enterprise, and festivals and outdoor events.
