Lambeth Communities First Strategy 2007 - 2010
The Communities First strategy will support the council and partners in their future work within neighbourhoods and communities.
This will help us to meet the changing demands on local service provision across the borough which cannot be done without the involvement of local people in shaping the design and delivery of their services.
This is the culmination of extensive community consultation, when time was spent listening and receiving clear messages for change in experiences of working with the council. We conducted over 70 meetings across the borough with local community groups, tenant and resident groups, equalities groups, the voluntary and community sector, Lambeth First, strategic partnerships and internal council departments.
The council has committed to working in the following key areas of change and improvement:
- Being a better partner to the local voluntary and community sectors
- Building active communities and neighbourhoods
- Strengthening the role of ward councillors as community leaders
- Building our skills, behaviours and information base.
