Norwood People First Expo

Mayor of Lambeth Cllr Andrew Gibson mingling with stall holdersThe final pilot for the People First Expos was held in Norwood on the Saturday 9 February at Crown Lane Primary school. Thank you to all who attended.

The theme for the Norwood Expo, which was opened by the Mayor of Lambeth, was Regenerating Norwood, with many local organisations and key figures within the area in attendance.

It was a bright and sunny day which encouraged lots of visitors to browse and gain an insight of this brand new school and the day.

Visitors at Norwood People Expo eventStalls ranging from library services, blood pressure checks, local partnership groups and lots of community and Norwood based voluntary sector organisations provided information about their work and interests and involved the community with their interactive demonstrations. The interactive theatre workshop, provided attendees with an opportunity to get involved and contribute to the borough’s Sustainable Community Strategy.

Local Question Time

The local Question Time took place in the main hall where attendees were able to submit questions both before the Question Time took place and directly to the panel. Panel members included Gerry Evans - Chair of the Norwood Forum, Angela Dawe - Director of Primary Care and Community Development (PCT), Superintendent Jonathan Tottman, Jason Hoyte - Youth and Play Consortium and Jimmy Lindsay - West Norwood Community Development.

Members of Norwood Youth Forum and Deputy Youth Mayor Charlotte RyanLambeth Deputy Youth Mayor Charlotte Ryan and the Norwood Youth Forum explained how they are working together with young people in Norwood. Local children and young people entertained everyone with their vocal talents, whilst face painting, story telling, mirror and badge making kept children entertained as everyone else networked with stall holders and local representatives.

A raffle was also held and prizes were donated by local organisations and businesses.
