People First Expo
Putting Lambeth's communities first
Our People First Expos (part of the council's Communities First programme) provided opportunities for residents, groups and organisations to come together in their own communities to network and focus on issues which directly affect them.
The aim was to increase opportunities for you to find out local information, have your say, bring up ideas and proposals and influence the decisions of councillors, Lambeth Council officers and partners.
Early in 2008, People First Expos were piloted in three areas across Lambeth: Norwood, Brixton and North Lambeth. Each event included:
- community entertainment and local talent
- the chance to meet local groups and organisations
- stalls with information about local services
- opportunities to meet with managers from local services, ask questions and make suggestions
- the opportunity to get involved in the local question and answer debate
- refreshments.
The feedback from these pilots will be included in a final evaluation report, which will determine whether we roll out People First Expos across the borough.
