Adults' and Community Services
The Adults' and Community Services (ACS) department was formed in October 2005.
Since then, the department's work has expanded to include:
- Adult social care
The Adult social care division provides and arranges care services for vulnerable adults who need advice, support or care because of their particular needs.
- Community safety
The Community safety team works, in partnership with a range of other agencies, to make Lambeth a safer place to live, work and visit. This team also includes Lambeth's Drug and Alcohol team (DAT).
- Cultural services
Lambeth has created a new cultural service, which will stand at the forefront of the council's activities in leisure, libraries, the creative industries, heritage, tourism and hospitality.
- Supporting people
The supporting people programme offers vulnerable people the opportunity to improve their quality of life by enabling them to live independently in the community.
Other units in ACS commission and plan the delivery of services for users, as well as providing training and administrative back-up.
Personalising services
We are developing more personalised services, designed to give those receiving support (our service users) more control, more choice, more independence, better outcomes - a better quality of life and support which better meets their individual circumstances and needs.
We are now planning to roll out self-directed support across the different client groups over the coming months and years.
