Children and Young People's Service

The Children and Young People's Service (CYPS) provides services for children and young people between the ages of 0-19 and their families living in Lambeth.

The department encompasses both the functions of an Education Authority and the statutory duties placed on local authorities to safeguard children and young people. Many aspects of the departments work is driven by legislation, for example the Children Acts 1989, 2004 and 2006;and the Education Act 2002 and 2005.

Some of the services provided by the department include Families Information Service, schools and education, youth services, fostering and adoption and safeguarding.
