ICT Services

Ed Garcez, Director ICT Services

Lambeth's ICT Services division aims to deliver a low-cost, high-value service to the council and partners. From the creation of the centralised division in 2005 to the 2010/11 financial year we have delivered cashable savings of over £3.4M, while also improving service quality.

We regularly benchmark ourselves against other London boroughs and through this we know that as well as delivering a low-cost service we are also performing well in terms of service delivery and user satisfaction. We are ambitious to further improve the service we deliver and are working to deliver the council's ICT strategy 2012 - 2015.

We support service delivery across all areas of the council's business, and also to a number of key partner organisations. This includes telephones (whether in the caller centre, on users' desks or mobile), desktop computers, our data centres, servers and network. We support the day-to-day operation of over 150 business systems; and manage, maintain and secure many terabytes of data and information. All of this is essential to the delivery of services that our borough's citizens and businesses depend upon.

In addition to delivering our operational service we also successfully run large and small projects to support and transform the organisation and service delivery. Recent highlights include:

  • saving £1M off the council's annual bill for its telephone and data network
  • saving £500k off the council's annual bill for PCs and mobile phones through pan-London procurement
  • connecting the council to the Government Secure Extranet (GCSx), delivering enhanced security controls for the data that Lambeth looks after and enabling information sharing with central government and partners.
