Performance and Business Development
The Divisional Director, Performance and Business Development role is currently being covered by Mark Nicolson (Risk and Insurance Manager) and Jason Hinton (Group Finance Manager).
This division is responsible for providing financial information, support, advice and strategic financial management to the Finance and Resources department and Value for Money (VfM) support to the council as a whole. The division also leads on strategy for the department in liaison with professional leads around the council. This includes the Use of Resources Assessment, service plan and budget challenge for the department.
In addition, the division delivers:
- Finance and Resources accountancy - improvement to financial systems and processes and budget monitoring for the department, performance management within the department and management of the value for money key lines of enquiry
- Training and Development - a comprehensive finance learning and development programme, management of the CIPFA graduate trainee scheme and the department's professional qualification scheme
- Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement – co-ordination of internal and external communications, consultation support and advice, strategy and policy development and management of equalities and partnership working across the department
- Risk and Insurance – strategic management of risk across the council, insurance fund management, claims inspections and handling
- Quality and special projects – management of the department's IiP programme and accommodation issues
