Data Protection and Freedom of Information

Open data

The government has emphasised that open data should be freely available to the public. The idea of making non-personal government data open is to:

  • turn data into useful applications
  • support transparency and accountability
  • make sharing data between public sector partners more efficient.

Before you download our data please read our open data terms of re-use.

Expenditure data

From January 2011, we are publishing monthly reports describing the majority of our spending decisions over £500 for payments made in the previous month, and the sum of those payments for each supplier.

In order to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998, details of transfer payments are not included. Transfer payments are payments to individuals for which no goods or services are directly received in return, such as direct payments to carers.

We are voluntarily disclosing this information in the interests of openness and accountability.

If you would like more information, you can submit a Freedom of Information request to foi@lambeth.gov.uk.

Freedom of Information Act disclosure log

From April 2011, Lambeth Council will routinely publish a summary of Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Requests received each month.
