Making a difference

This section aims to demonstrate our commitment to our ethos of making a difference. We are dedicated to making a real difference to anyone who contacts us, uses our services, or works with us whether they are a local resident, business, partner, or supplier.

BIG Difference

BIG Difference - Put it on poster featuring 2 people wearing a giant jumperThis year we have launched the BIG Difference campaign, part of the Making a difference overarching campaign, which focuses on the corporate priority Respect for the Environment.

The BIG Difference campaign encourages all of us to make small changes in our every day life to help reduce waste, save energy, and money as a result. We are working towards the goal in Lambeth to cut our CO2 emissions by 20% by 2012. www.lambeth.gov.uk/BIGDifference

Lambeth's vision

Our vision is to ensure that by 2020 "Lambeth is a diverse, dynamic and enterprising borough at the heart of central London"

Read more about out vision and outcomes in the Sustainable Community Strategy and how we plan to deliver in our Local Area Agreement 2008-2011.

Annual Report

We have published our Annual Report which describes our performance and financial position at the end of the 2008/09 financial year (April to March).

Best value

Lambeth is committed to using best value as a tool for improving all our services focusing particularly on the key areas.

Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA)

Lambeth is a great borough to live, work, learn and do business in and in the past year it's become cleaner, healthier and crime has gone down. That's the conclusion of a new national report called the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA).

Comprehensive Performance Assessment

Before the introduction of the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) in 2009 the Audit Commission produced a national league table of council performance by the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA), measuring each council's ability to plan, manage and deliver core services and how well they offered value for money.

Corporate plan

The corporate plan sets out the council's plans for the next three years. It responds to the concerns of residents, the political priorities of our Labour administration and shows how the council is helping to deliver its part of the LAA and the Sustainable Community Strategy. In addition, it sets out the improvements we will make to how the council, as an organisation, is run.

Lambeth Promise

We want you to know the council is on your side. And to give you confidence that you will receive an excellent service every time you contact us, use our services or do business with us, we've created the Lambeth Promise.

Lambeth Sustainability Charter

Early in 2007 Lambeth launched its new Sustainability Charter which replaced the Environmental Charter (2001).

Local Area Agreement (2008-11)

Lambeth's LAA is linked to a borough's Sustainable Community Strategy, in that it sets out what we will be improving in the next three-years.

Our priorities

We recognise that having a clear view about our priorities is crucial. Listening to our residents and partners we will focus on our six priorities.

Performance information

In order to manage performance to deliver improvement we need to know how we are doing. We measure our performance against nationally as well as locally determined indicators.

Sustainable Community Strategy (2008 – 2020)

The Sustainable Community Strategy is the borough's 12 year long term strategy, which sets out how we will improve the quality of life for people who live, work and visit Lambeth. The strategy is delivered by Lambeth First (the borough's local strategic partnership) and the council is a key member of this partnership.

The Joint Area Review

The Joint Area Review (JAR) is a major inspection of all services for children and young people within Lambeth and in January 2009 it was announced that Lambeth scored three in all areas.

This is fantastic news for everyone in Lambeth and we should all be extremely proud of what we have achieved.

Oneplace - Directgov

On the Oneplace website you can see how local public services are performing in England, if they provide value for money and where they could improve. Oneplace brings together the views of six independent inspectorates: the Audit Commission, Care Quality Commission, Ofsted, and Her Majesty's Inspectorates of Constabulary, Prisons and Probation.
