Public and private investment throughout Lambeth has made it one of the most attractive places in London to live, work and visit. There are good quality homes in decent, clean neighbourhoods at prices people can afford.

Lambeth is a safe place with active, healthy and cohesive communities enjoying a good quality of life. Vulnerable people are supported, citizens are healthier and enjoy more active lifestyles.

Young people have support, opportunity, aspiration and ambition and our schools and colleges develop their potential.

Lambeth is working towards becoming carbon neutral. It has reduced its CO2 emissions and air quality has improved. Reliance on the car has reduced, and sustainable transport connects Lambeth to the whole of London.

We will:

• Work in partnership to make Lambeth a great place at the heart of London.
• Be ambitious for the borough. We will listen to and be engaged with citizens and business in providing the leadership and democratic accountability to shape places and ensure Lambeth plays its part in London.
• Tackle inequality and social exclusion, as we narrow the gap between the haves and have-nots by generating a better quality of life for all.
• Deliver and commission high-quality, value-for-money services that continue to improve. No service will be less than two stars, as we aspire to excellence by 2010 and we will maintain tight financial controls to ensure improvement results from better managed services, not just more council spending.
