Making a difference - our aims and priorities

This section aims to demonstrate our commitment to our ethos of making a difference. We are dedicated to making a real difference to anyone who contacts us, uses our services, or works with us whether they are a local resident, business, partner, or supplier.

Lambeth's vision

Our vision is that Lambeth should be a caring, aspirational and safe and secure borough. Every decision we make should be a step towards achieving those objectives. Read more about our priorities and outcomes in the Corporate Plan.

Annual Report

We have published our Annual Report which describes our performance and financial position at the end of the 2008/09 financial year (April to March).

Best value

Lambeth is committed to using best value as a tool for improving all our services focusing particularly on the key areas.

Corporate plan

The corporate plan sets out the council's aspiration, priorities, the outcomes we want to achieve over the next three years and how we will measure our progress to achieving them.

Housing Commission

This commission chaired by the Cabinet Member for Housing has been set up to undertake a detailed review of our approach to housing management and housing investment.

Lambeth cooperative council

A new settlement between citizens and public services. A new approach to public service delivery.

Lambeth Promise

We want you to know the council is on your side. And to give you confidence that you will receive an excellent service every time you contact us, use our services or do business with us, we've created the Lambeth Promise.

Lambeth Sustainability Charter

The Sustainability Charter sets out the way the council aims to provide policy and services both internally and across the borough.

Libraries Commission

We are joining up with library experts and residents in a new commission to explore the future of Libraries in the borough. The aim of the commission is to look at the new and creative ways to deliver a library service that will be used by more people but cost less money.

Local Area Agreement (2008-11)

Lambeth's LAA is linked to a borough's Sustainable Community Strategy, in that it sets out what we will be improving in the next three-years.

Our priorities

We recognise that having a clear view about our priorities is crucial. Listening to our residents and partners we will focus on our six priorities.

Our service standards

Our service standards set out what you can expect from us when you contact us or use our services.

Safer Lambeth Partnership

Safer Lambeth Partnership was established following the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. The partnership includes the council, Metropolitan Police, probation service, primary care trust, HM Prison Service, fire service, Community Police Consultative Group, Crown Prosecution Service and a range of voluntary and community organisations.

Sustainable Community Strategy (2008 - 2020)

The Sustainable Community Strategy is the borough's 12 year long term strategy, which sets out how we will improve the quality of life for people who live, work and visit Lambeth. The strategy is delivered by Lambeth First (the borough's local strategic partnership) and the council is a key member of this partnership.

Tough choices

Tough choices explains how we are making decisions to set a balanced budget for the coming year.
