Risk management in Lambeth

Risk management is an essential part of our drive to ensure we deliver the best services to Lambeth residents.

By managing risk we can ensure that all the positive outcomes we plan do happen as well as minimise the disruption from surprises, which may blow us off course.

Our risk management policy is the signed statement of intent from the Chief executive and Leader of the Council committing Lambeth to using risk management as a tool to help achieve positive outcomes for the benefit of our community.

By embracing risk management we can help to develop new ideas to make systems, processes and tools easier and more efficient. This in turn can help Lambeth residents obtain the best service in the most cost effective way, as well as helping to direct resources where it is needed most.

How we manage risk

Lambeth council manages risks in every part of the organisation, which includes departments, programmes and projects and our partnerships.

Lambeth is dedicated to improving risk management across all of these areas to help enhance relations with other public organisations, the private and voluntary sectors, including community organisations and schools in Lambeth. By working together to achieve a shared outcome we ensure that services provided to all our customers are always to high standards.

Our risk management strategy highlights how risk management supports our Sustainable Community Strategy along with details on how risks are managed within the council and the reporting structure used to escalate key risks to our committee members. Details of these risks can be found in the agenda items of corporate committee meetings.
