Resident Participation Commission

In October 2007, the Housing Scrutiny Sub-Committee started a commission examining the resident participation in council owned housing. The report contains a number of recommendations, which if implemented will lead to expanded and more effective resident involvement.

The commission held 14 evidence-gathering sessions between October 2007 and September 2008. These included site visits around Lambeth and out of borough, focus groups, attendance by expert witnesses, drafting meetings and even video evidence produced by the Lambeth Youth Council.

The Housing Scrutiny Sub-Committee adopted theĀ final report (PDF 721KB) on 4 December 2008.

A report providing an interim response to the commission's recommendations was presented to Housing Scrutiny Sub-Committee on 26 March 2009 with a view to a formal response being presented to a future Cabinet. The Action PlanĀ development is currently taking place alongside the Tenants' Compact. However, an update report outlining the response to the commissions recommendations was presented to the 21 September 2010 meeting of the Housing Scrutiny Sub Committee.
