This year over 10,000 votes were cast in the borough's third ever youth elections on 26 February 2010.

Young people ages 11 to 19 that live, work or study in the borough voted in Darren Tenkorang as the new youth mayor. Darren (second from right), 15, won a closely-fought campaign by just 28 votes. The Lambeth Youth Mayor and their advisory panel will have an annual budget of £25,000 to help make the changes that young people want to see.

The second highest vote saw 16-year-old Sara Zouhir from Lambeth Academy announced as deputy youth mayor for Lambeth.

It was another close call for the new member of youth parliament (MYP).

The new Lambeth MYP is 16-year-old Stephanie Harb (pictured second from left). Stephanie beat fellow candidate, 14-year-old Daniel Longe by only 19 votes. Daniel will take on the role of deputy MYP.
