BSF delivery programme

How will we make BSF happen?

School childrenBSF is more than just a construction programme and Lambeth will work with all stakeholders to deliver a successful programme that is focused on improving educational outcomes rather than just the renovation of buildings.

The programme is initially centered on secondary schools, although it is possible that over time its remit may expand to incorporate other educational institutions such as academies.

A strong BSF team has been set up to manage the programme. The team consists of professionals with expertise in all related areas of project management, finance, admin, legal, technical advice, communications and education.

Two-phased delivery programme

A two-phased programme of BSF investment over 10 years has been adopted. Phase 1 is the rebuilding of four of the existing schools and the building of a new secondary school. One school is complete and work on the others is well underway with a scheduled completion date of 2010.

Phase 2 involves substantial refurbishment of the remaining schools, and one rebuild. Planning for Phase 2 is currently underway and the construction is due for completion in 2014.

To ensure that the schools in Phase 2 are not placed at a disadvantage by the new buildings in Phase 1, and that they will remain attractive to new students, a programme of intermediate works is being carried out. This will be at sites where there is an urgent need for limited remedial work in advance of the main construction period of Phase 2.
