Stockwell Park High School

Model of Stockwell Park High School

The first school in the national BSF programme to receive an Excellent rating for architecture and build environment from the Committee for Architecture and Build Environment (CABE). Phase 1 of the building is now open and the remainder of the building will be in use by Summer 2010.

The new building replaces and expands the school on its existing site to provide 1,200 places, a 15-place Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) unit and post-16 places.

Stockwell Park High School

The new building is designed by Sheppard Robson and is being built by Willmott Dixon. It will have several exciting features to stimulate and inspire learning:

  • the re-introduction of an amphitheatre, which was part of the orphanage previously on the site to create a drama space
  • new gardens featuring a school allotment, quiet spaces for the older students, a sensory garden for children with Special Education Needs (SEN) and a science and technology garden in line with plans for outdoor curricular activities
  • the dining room has been designed to provide an external eating area in good weather
  • multi-use games area
  • sport hall
  • ICT suites.
