Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF)

YOF Panel

YOF panel members - December 2007Being in the Youth Opportunity Fund Panel (YOF Panel) is not just about having something to put on your CV, although that is one of its benefits.

It doesn't matter how well you do at school, any problems you might have had in the past, what race, religion, sexuality or background you are, or if you have a disability or not.

A YOF Panel member just needs to be someone who is dedicated to youths getting their voice heard and really wants to make changes to Lambeth.

Criteria

YOF Panel members must be:

  • 13- 19 years of age
  • prepared to be committed and dedicated to your role
  • ready to learn new skills
  • a student in Lambeth or a resident  of Lambeth
  • motivated and reliable.

Advantages of being a YOF Panel member

As well as benefiting the community, there are also things that you as a person can gain too.

Being a YOF member means that you will gain many different experiences and come across different challenges that you will learn to overcome.

It will give you life-long skills that you can carry around with you wherever you go, a chance to meet new people and collect many satisfying rewards.

You'll get to see the groups you helped to fund flourish and grow, and perform at regular YOF showcase events.

Accreditation and certificates are also given out, for all the hard work and commitment put towards the YOF.

Working as a YOF member will give you experience which will look great on your CV and will be valued by employers.

Here's what some panel members had to say about their experiences:
