Looked After Children's Pledges Explained
A pledge is a list of promises that lets you know what you can expect from your time at school, whether you are in care or not. The pledge should act as a guide to help your social worker, teacher and carer make sure that you get the same chances as other young people in your class.
We have developed two types of pledge; the first one tells you what you can expect from your time at school by the time you reach 11 years old (at the end of year 6.) Read the Before 11 pledge.
The second pledge tells you what you can expect from your time at secondary school, until you reach leaving school (at the end of year 11). Read the Before 16 pledge.
A Copy of the pledge may be attached to your personal education plan (PEP) and be used as a guide for ensuring full education provision.
