Parent Partnership in Lambeth

Lambeth Parent Partnership logoParent Partnership (PP) is a statutory service offering information advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs (SEN).

Parent Partnership is 'arm's length' from the council and provides confidential and impartial advice.

The Parent Partnership Service can help:

  • Parents and carers of all children with special educational needs (with or without a statement)
  • Anyone who needs help or advice regarding statutory assessment procedures
  • Anyone who is concerned about their child's progress at school
  • Schools, LEA and other professionals as appropriate, who seek advice on SEN and other related legislation.

The Parent Partnership Service aims to:

  • put parents and carers in touch with other organisations that can help, such as voluntary support groups or professional agencies
  • have a role in making sure parents and carers' views are heard and understood, helping parents and carers speak for themselves
  • help parents and carers to know what to expect from schools and the Local Authority and to understand their rights, roles and responsibilities.

The Parent Partnership Service is expected to adopt an impartial stance by:

  • reflecting the perspectives and wishes of parents
  • being seen not to have a vested interest in the outcome of any discussions
  • providing accurate and neutral information
  • providing a free and confidential service.
