Educational Awards and Benefits
Our Access team is responsible for providing benefits and support for parents, pupils and students at school or in higher education.
You can learn more about the various grants and loans available below.
Free school meals are available to children whose parents or guardians can prove that they meet certain standards.
Parents can apply to Lambeth Council for financial help with their child's travel costs if the child is resident in Lambeth.
Students can claim financial support for assistance when in higher education including college, university, or lead school. Extra financial help is available for students with disabilities or those caring for children.
Educational Grants unit
The Grants Unit works in partnership with voluntary organisations to deliver quality services that are effective, efficient and meet the needs of local communities. For more information contact the Education Grants Development Officer on 020 7926 9480.
Education maintenance allowance (EMA)
EMA is a weekly payment of £10, £20 or £30 a week depending on your household income. The money is intended to help with the day-to-day costs when you stay on at school or college - such as travel, books and equipment for your course.
