Newly qualified teachers in Lambeth schools

Induction training for newly qualified teachers

We organises a programme of twelve half-day sessions throughout the school year, covering a wide range of topics, to give NQTs a better understanding of induction and all that it entails, as well as topics that may not have been widely covered during initial teacher training.

Not only does it give you this information, but it also gives you the opportunity to meet with others going through the same process, and allows you to share ideas and anxieties.

The training will be led by Sara Bubb, who is an internationally renowned figure in the area of induction. She will be joined by a number of Lambeth and outside specialists.

Times

The training will run from either 9am to noon or 1.15pm to 3.45pm in the Lecture Theatre at International House.

Bookings

If you are an NQT in a primary school, it is likely that you will have been booked onto either the morning or afternoon sessions as part of your NQT registration.

While we fully understand if you need to swap the odd morning session for an afternoon session, or vice versa, it would be helpful if you could attend, where possible, the session you are booked onto (as space is limited in the Lecture Theatre).

If you do need to swap a session, please let Dave Coram know as far in advance as possible.

If you are an NQT in a secondary school, you may have been booked onto the welcome session only as part of your NQT registration.

You are welcome to attend any of the other sessions during Terms 1, 2, 5 and 6 that may be of interest to you - the sessions during Terms 3 and 4 are primary-focussed.

If you do want to come along to a session, please let Dave Coram know as far in advance as possible. Please do not attend without booking, as we may have to turn you away if there are no places left.

Whether you are a primary or secondary NQT, you should try to ensure that you are able to arrive on time and be able to stay for the whole session - ask to be rostered off of lunch duty on training days, and try not to arrange meetings after school if you are attending the afternoon sessions.

After each session

After each session of the training programme, any handouts given out during the course of each session will be posted to the NQT induction library.
