You can work as a registered Childminder, Nursery Nurse, Teaching Assistant, Crèche worker, Nursery Manager or Teacher.

Becoming a registered childminder

If you are considering becoming a registered childminder or childcare provider we can help. We provide guidance and support through the process of registration. Contact Lambeth Families Information Service to express your interest in becoming a childminder, nursery, crèche or out of school provider - call 0845 601 5317 or email fis@lambeth.gov.uk.

  1. We will send you information on the process you need to take on the Pathways to Registration and how to go through each stage, this will include information on assessments and training and information sessions
  2. When you have completed all of the assessments, training and information sessions, you will receive a support visit from a Childcare Development officer, who will check your home or premises for suitability and will give you advice on how to prepare for your registration visit from Ofsted.
  3. Fill in your forms and return them to Ofsted
  4. Ofsted will the carry out a registration visit to assess your suitability to become a registered childcare provider
  5. Ofsted will inform of the outcome of the Ofsted registration visit and your application to become a registered childminder or childcare provider.

You can also register your details and we will send you information about jobs available. If you are a parent/carer Families Information Service can also give you guidance on childcare available when you secure employment.
