You can work as a registered Childminder, Nursery Nurse, Teaching Assistant, Crèche worker, Nursery Manager or Teacher.

Becoming a registered childminder

If you are considering becoming a register Childminder we can help. We provide guidance and support through the process of registration.

1. Contact Lambeth Children's Information Service to register your interest in becoming a childminder - call 0845 601 5317 or email fis@lambeth.gov.uk.
2. We will send you information on becoming a registered childminder.
3. We will send you an invite to the next pre-registration childminder briefing session
4. When you have attended the briefing session we will provide you with the application forms to become a registered childminder (Including a Criminal Record Bureau check).
5. Fill in your forms and return them to OFSTED
6. You will be invited to the next Introduction to childminding practice course.
7. OFSTED will carry out a visit and undertake an inspection
8. You will be informed of the outcome of OFSTED inspection and your application to become a registered childminder.

You can also register your details and we will send you information about jobs available. If you are a parent/carer Families Information Service can also give you guidance on childcare available when you secure employment.
