Early years funding

The Department for Education (DfE) announced the following changes to how the free entitlement to early learning and care for three and four year olds will be funded through local authorities (LAs):

From April 2011 all local authorities are required to implement a single Early Years Funding Formula (EYFF) to fund the provison of free nursery education and care to all early years providers within their borough.

The funding distributed through the EYFF is intended to support 15 hours (per week) of flexible free entitlement of high quality early years education and care, within the maintained and private, voluntary and independent (PVI) sectors.
