Education Business Partnership - Information for employers

Student mentoring

There are many ways that employers can get involved in working with young people in Lambeth, either in a school setting or more informally through after school provision in Youth Centres. Employers can benefit in many ways from these experiences:

  • Enhance your company's standing in the community
  • Reach out to new customers
  • Build staff and customer loyalty
  • Develop staff communication, teamwork and leadership skills
  • Engage with young people
  • Have an enjoyable experience away from the usual work setting

Employers guide to working with schools

Volunteers always learn a lot about young people, how schools work and really feel like they are putting something positive back into their community. Now, more than ever, it is vital that schools build links with employers to provide quality work related learning for their students.

New work related learning guidelines have recently been implemented for schools which detail each student’s entitlement to work related learning, targets are high so schools really do need your support.

In 2008 a new qualification was bought in to run alongside GCSEs and A-levels – The Diploma. Employer involvement is essential for this qualification as it aims to bring classroom teaching to life through real experiences of work. All of the activities delivered by the EBP can be delivered to Diploma students to compliment their learning.
